Stronger Shoulders…

After soaking all of this new information in about our baby and the possible outcomes, I have felt like this is a cross God has asked me to bear.

In Mass this morning, our Gospel reading was : ( amazingly appropriate….)

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 8,34-38.9,1.

He summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
What could one give in exchange for his life?
Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
He also said to them, “Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power.”

Father Richard went on to say, if we were all to gather around and place our crosses in a box to choose another, we would probably realize we want our own crosses back. Rather than asking Our Lord to take this cross from me, it is too much for me to bear, Let us ask Him for stronger shoulders so that we may find strength through the times when we find the cross too heavy. God never gives us a cross we cannot bear. If we all examine our life and our own crosses, we should thank God for the chance to suffer through while we bear our crosses to help unite us with his suffering on the cross.

Please pray for many crosses I have heard others are carrying right now:

For a family who lost a 2 year old from a drunk driver hit and run,

For a family suffering from the loss of jobs, others with the loss of identity due to identity theft,

For a baby in utero who has two holes in the heart and a placenta issue,

For the elderly who have to go into nursing homes

For a family who lost their father in the war last week

For those who are lonely and long for God to send them someone

For a family with a father who is an alcoholic

For children who fall away from God

For all of those who feel the weight is too much with the knowledge that there is a baby on the way

Crosses go on and on, we all hear about them everyday in all of our circles.

God please give us all stronger shoulders so we may bear our crosses.
