At our house a few years ago, we decided to limit desserts to the weekends only. Somehow Friday always seems to creep up on me as I scramble through the cupboards to come up with something “special.”
Tonight I thought “Baked Apples” sounds like fun! Apples are a staple in our house. Everyone likes them.
I washed and cored five beautiful Fugi Apples. I set each apple in its own dish to capture all of the flavor. I filled each empty core with a pat of butter and a Tablespoon of brown sugar.
Into the oven they go! I baked the apples at 350 for about an hour.
Served with a 1/2 scoop of vanilla ice cream ( which melted quite nicely over the top to cool it down)
This was a hit tonight and the kids have voted to make it for dad when he returns.
Dad’s little buddy sat “out of the kitchen” watching and smelling the aroma coming from the oven…
what were the kids dong while waiting for dessert??.. well… this one hobbled into the kitchen asking for “Alms for the Poor??” LOL
