Feast of Pentecost

Yesterday was the Church’s birthday! Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit onto the twelve apostles. Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks after Easter. This is the birthday of the Church as with this power of the Holy Spirit the apostles went out to be Jesus’ witnesses to the world, able to speak all language and perform great acts.
We celebrated with our “Tongues of Fire” cupcakes or “Pentecost Flame” cupcakes. We have made these for two years now. Our children LOVE to cook with the Liturgical calendar. We would be so unhappy in life without the Gifts from the Holy Spirit.
“Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the holy Spirit”
Acts 2:3-4DSC_0422
We took the rest of our cupcakes to Mass this morning to share with our friends. After all, a cupcake batch makes 24 and there are only five children who ate them on Sunday night.
