Happy 4th of July!

We were thrilled to hear we had family coming to visit us for the 4th! John’s brother and his family came from Mississippi to see us and let us meet little Anna for the first time. This morning we took them to see the Apaches and let the kids climb in….DSC_0553 oh yes, even the big kids climbed in…DSC_0552 and then home again for lunch and nap. We made this delicious Flag cake...DSC_0599 don’t ask how much butter it called for….but hey, it has fruit!!
John was part of the fly over for this year’s Freedom Fest held ever year on post. We were able to get parking with an air conditioned shuttle that dropped us off right at the stadium to see John fly over. The kids all thought this was the best thing..DSC_0573
DSC_0575 to ride in a really cool ( no pun intended) bus. We saw jumpers freefall before their parachutes deployed from a Blackhawk helicopter and land in the stadium. DSC_0578DSC_0585Then daddy in the Apache!DSC_0589DSC_0590 DSC_0582
The kids loved it! We stayed for the colors DSC_0580and the National Anthem and then headed back to the bus to return home. DSC_0598
We finished the night with the cake and tucked everyone into bed.. A few minutes later, we heard fireworks outside in the backyard and let the three older children join us outside to see the colors explode into the sky.DSC_0566

  1. Looks so exciting; my kids got to watch fireworks from their bedroom window, so I probably won’t be showing them how other families celebrate =). Just want you to know we’re in the middle of a novena to St. Joseph for little Matthew. God bless.
