A lot of changes here

Well, we have moved since I was last on here. I spent many many weeks packing and unpacking and here we are. We’ve settled into a little cottage built in the 30’s backed up on the water. We see eagles and deer on a regular basis!

Along with the move came another little gift from heaven right in the midst of the winter snow and boxes! We are due October 22! I’ve gone back on the progesterone injections and the blood thinner as I did with Nicholas a year ago.

Bluebelle has donated her hair again to Locks of Love this Lent and is very happy to share her hair with others for a wig.

Cookie is finishing up an SAT prep class getting ready for the real deal in June. In the meantime, she’s really looking forward to the Junior/Senior prom! Following that I think she’s looking into taking Driver’s Ed!
Pictures will follow later in a separate post!
Opie is finishing up perfecting Beethoven’s Rage over a Lost Penny and one of Chopin’s Nocturns for a performance coming up. He is also looking forward to his Confirmation he’s been preparing for! We had to go out and buy a new suit!

MM is getting ready to receive her First Holy Communion in May! She has enjoyed studying her Catechism with me and reading King of the Golden City. To go with that she painted a little hut and decorated it with roses to prepare for the coming of the King.

Moonbeam has been steadily getting better and better at not only drawing horses, but also riding them! Here she is at a trot on a vaulting saddle!

I wish you all a blessed and Happy Easter!

A cold Sunday in ordinary time

It’s been bitterly cold in Maryland. We’ve all stayed bundled up much of the time while we get days of snow and cold. It snowed a bit yesterday, just enough to re-coat the ground with a sparkling blanket of white.
Here is M&M after Mass exploring the way the snow crunches in the shade.

Every day after a bit of snow, we see the birds have been busy outside! Cutest thing to imagine them hopping around in the cold.

Max is also exploring… this time it is his daddy’s rosary as we head back to the car after Mass. When he woke up from a cat nap in Mass, he was handed the rosary and gripped it tight, not to let it go… and he really never did until we pried his fingers open!

Have a great week and stay warm!

what I found

in a pile of school work..
“love daddy”
“I miss you daddy”
“Here’s a Big hug”
“I Miss you Daddy”
Obviously, MM drew this a long time ago, probably soon after daddy deployed. She doesn’t draw like this anymore. But still, it’s adorable and I know it melted her daddy’s heart.

M&M

M&M went to preschool for a month while we were settling back into our school routine. The preschool is over now for the summer and they closed with a cute ceremony last Friday. She has had fun painting, writing, reading, and playing with other little 4 and 5 year olds. This is the same preschool I worked in before we joined the Army life. I love the ladies who teach there. We were very blessed to be able to let her attend the last few weeks of the preschool while we were adjusting to deployment.

Singing in Mass and other occasions.

( A happy post)
Every time we stand up to sing in Mass, our almost 4 year old wants to follow along. She has been pointing out G.O.D-God for almost a year now. It is so cute to be following the words and all of a sudden a tiny finger points to the letters, G.O.D. and a delighted little face looks up at you to read the letters, G.O.D-God to you over and over. Since this first word, I’ve been showing her others as well for her to find. God stands out to her the most. Its really so cute.
We’ve started showing her sight words on flashcards and covering up the pictures. Either she has some of the “order” memorized, or she really is beginning to read. She got so many words by sounding them out. I was really more just giving her a challenge rather than a task. She wants to do her “work” like the older kids, so , I giver her “work.” My husband says I should give her Spanish! He’s probably right, she’d love it. I’ll bet there is an app for that!
She’s also so hilarious with wanting to “work out” she’ll do crunches and sit ups and absolutely loves jumping jacks. Lately the kids have been trying out the taebo for kids DVD I got them. M&M stays right with it, while the rest of us stand back and enjoy watching her!

With her birthday a month away, and with Cheryl’s recommendation…. I think I’ll make her one more bishop before she’s too big to wear them!

It was time

and she was so nonchalant about it, but a matter of fact attitude…. “I’m giving my hair to little girls who don’t have any hair.” and then she would look at her big 6 year old sister and say “I look just like you now!”

yes, the curls are gone, ( 11 inches) but so are the tangles which is why I broke our family tradition and said yes to cutting it at age 3. usually all of our girls have had their first haircut at age 5, bit in this case, M&M’s hair was sooooooo long, it was time. No more tangles, I am thrilled! And so is she! I did keep a clipping of her hair for her baby book.. for her first haircut.. sniff….

“Shin guards”

M&M  has been put in braces ( or shin guards) to keep her from toe walking. So far so good since  she already knew her brother and sisters wore them to play soccer. She has to wear them as long as she is awake.  She also gets Physical Therapy twice a week now to try to help her feet stay on the ground.

We walk around the house saying, “heel-toe, heel-toe.”

More filly care..

We took Bluebelle, then M&M and Opie out to care for the baby horse(s) There are actually two on the farm, along with two three year olds and three older ones ( to include the moms) These horses are gorgeous 16 hand horses, full grown. Shadow, the black three year old is so friendly and will walk right up to your face to greet you. Here is Bluebelle taking out 30lbs of hay by herself to feed the horses. Here is Lady and Shadow with her.

One filly is Hrimfaxi and the other baby is Firefox. Hrimfaxi is a few weeks younger than Firefox and has seemed very comfortable around the children.

Yesterday, the baby was fascinated with the scent of M&M’s hands. We had fresh cucumbers, carrots, and celery before going over to the farm and I am pretty sure this young filly loved the way she smelled… like treats!

Each of the kids have been able to drape ( lightly) their arms over the baby filly’s back. They made “hand saddles…

one, two, three!

We asked M&M if she could hold up three fingers.. she smiled and looked at her fingers and looked at ours.. and couldn’t figure out how we got all three fingers to stand up? Then we showed her the way you show three in sign language.. no problem.. She’s now three and can show us! All day yesterday she would ask me, “am I three now?”

The Italian Wedding/Creme cake was such a hit last month for Cookie’s birthday, I made it again with a few alterations… ( I left out the coconut and nuts in the icing)… because when you are three… you want pink sprinkles!

Here is the recipe you asked for! It was handed down to me by John’s mother. It was her mother’s recipe!

never hurts

.. to pray for yourself…
M&M has always been good at listening to bedtime prayers from her big sisters and brother all while trying to not get hurt wiggling so much be still in the dark while kneeling. Many times, she will try to repeat some of the prayers she heard prayed before her. As I mentioned in a previous post, 5yo sister, Bluebelle, has been praying for her little sister. Tonight, when it came time for M&M to pray, we heard…
“Dear Jesus, please help me grow faster so I can be nice”
Here is M&M in Mass with her Guka ( John’s dad) at Moonbeam’s FHC Mass. She actually does know how to be still some of the time.

Lucky for her, she is getting older.. she is only a week away from her 3rd birthday!

A shower?

My sister asked me to take a picture of MM like this so she could create a baby shower invitation for a co-worker. She saw the idea on an expensive card website and thought we could do it using my camera. The caption will say something like..
” Have you heard ??? A shower is on the way.. etc…”
